Materials Used

Bronze

Bronze is the most traditional material we use.  Most of our medallions are struck in bronze and we cast a significant number of bronze tablets, including bas-reliefs of your preeminent contributors.  In an average year, we will engrave enough satin finish bronze plates to use 5,000 pounds of the material.  It’s classic recognition.

Wood

Wood is the most often used material for wall plaques, in part, due to its beauty, but also, because it works well in most settings.  We use only the finest hardwoods – maple, oak and walnut – in a variety of finishes, with all types of edge treatments.

A particular wood type is selected for it ability to enhance your display or individual presentation award, as well as for it longevity.  Its natural attributes make each piece unique.

Lucite

Whether clear or in color, this glass-like material is tremendously versatile.  We use it for individual awards, as well as for many of our most creative recognition walls.  Especially popular are our Lucite embedments, which can take a variety of shapes, sizes and styles.  Whether you use medallions or graphics, embedded or laser engraved, you can create your own unique look.

Metals and Cast Metals

Aluminum – Aluminum can be used as a less costly alternative to stainless steel, while providing a similar bright contemporary look.

Pewter - We use a great deal of pewter in the creation of statues of famous individuals or institutional symbols.  It’s a very effective recognition tool to have in your arsenal for your major donors as the College of the Holy Cross has done for 40 years for their President’s Council “Crusader” members.

Stainless Steel - Stainless steel has a look of its own: a combination of contemporary and classic elegance.  It is particularly effective in many newer, more modern facilities where a brushed finish matches the interior décor.

Brass

Brass has all of the same characteristics of bronze but with a more golden color.

Glass and Crystal

A beautiful way to reward accomplishments when you are presenting in glass or crystal.  Whether you have your piece etched or engraved or use a graphic designing procedure known as sand blasting, we are able to create a powerful, quality design to meet your needs.  Custom pieces are available based on your specific requirements.

Slate

Our Pennsylvania slate has the traditional look of stone.  Letters and graphics can be carved deeply into the surface and color-filled for effective legibility.  If your name is in our slate, it’s in stone.

Corian

Over the last 20 years, Corian awards and recognition walls have become our most popular forms of recognition.  There are scores of colors to choose from and Corian is so flexible and durable, it’s perfect for high traffic areas.  It can be traditional, contemporary or completely unique, depending upon color choices, edge treatment and your design choices.
